Students start learning Arabic as a second or other language as early as PreK3. Student lessons in PreK include learning the alphabet, sight words, and short sentences. In Kindergarten students use what they have learned to begin memorizing small surahs/juuz of the Quran as well as continuing their education in Arabic language. Students who have no background in Arabic will find Dar-Un-Noor an excellent fit since Arabic and Quran memorization levels are tailored to the student’s abilities.
DNA’s PreK program is accredited through Bright From the Start and Quality Rated. Our KG program is accredited through AdvanceED (now called COGNIA) and the Georgia Accrediting Commission. We strive to exceed excellence in state standards as well as providing an inclusive Islamic environment.
Dar Un Noor Academy is inclusive and diverse. Our Curriculum gives teachers the tools to work with all types of learners, from English and dual-language students to advanced and challenged learners. Our goal is to help every child reach their full potential.
Children are regularly assessed by our teachers. It is aligned to state and national early learning educational standards and helps teachers identify and track the skill levels of each child throughout the year. We share a developmental assessment report two times per year with parents, and plan with parents so children can reach desired goals.
We believe a positive environment with clear, consistent expectations is the best way to teach our children how to live well in the world. We use active supervision, positive reinforcement, social skills instruction, and acting in a fair and honest way with all children — to define, teach and strengthen appropriate behavior and self-regulation.
All Children are given the opportunity to rest or nap between 12:30 and 1:45 every day. Cots are provided, however, crib sheets and blankets are not.
Outdoor play is as important as indoor play. Our schedule allows for students to spend at least 1 ½ hours per day outside, weather permitting.
DNA customizes parts of the The Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive early learning program to build children’s confidence, creativity and critical thinking skills. A curriculum, taught by qualified teachers, is rooted in child development theory and based in the well-researched idea that play is essential to healthy growth. Research-based objectives make up the heart of the curriculum and guide the work of our teachers. The objectives, predictors of school readiness, are aligned with the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS).
